one of the best Cardinals hurlers in recent years but your annual injuries were the nail in that coffin. Today the Cardinals traded veteran hurler Jaime Garcia to the Braves for three prospects. Jaime was 62-45 with a 3.57 ERA in 158 games with the Birds. When he was on he was fantastic, a real joy to watch, but man when he wasn't it was downright painful. The Cardinals picked up his option following the 2016 season for $12 million then flipped him.
Cardinals received in return;
Chris Ellis-Ellis is a 24 year-old pitcher who split time between the two top Braves farm teams. Mozeliak the Redbirds' GM expects him to be in the Birds Triple-A Memphis team. Control has been an issue for him so this will be interesting.
John Gant-also 24 and also a pitcher. Cardinals indicated they will see if the pen or starting is the best option with him.
Luke Dykstra-yes he is the son of former Philly/Mets Lenny. Luke is 21 year-old second baseman not much of a power hitter but did hit .304 in 81 games with the Braves Class A Rome team last season.
Farewell to our Mexican Ken Doll.
It was a love/hate relationship with Jaime. He could be lights out like the one hitter he threw against the Brewers early last year. Or he would be so bad that a move to the bullpen came. Thanks for the service Jaime
ReplyDeleteI am with you-I think it was last three games that year that was the difference between the Giants or the Cards getting the Wild Card spot
