A Ray of Sunshine

Recently fellow Redbird blogger Ray of All Cardinals All The Time asked me if he should be on the look out for anything at the STL Cardinals Winter Warm Up (WWU). A kind gesture indeed-I asked him if he would mind looking out for minor league cards. The WWU is on our bucket list. Not sure I will open the packs or not.

Booya! Ray sent some sweet team sets-above is the team set for the 2015 Peoria Chiefs (Class A of the Midwest League) were 75-63. Notable Cardinal minor leaguers on this team-Harrison Bader
Alex De Leon, Paul DeJong, Oscar Mercado, Magneuris Sierra, Luis Perdomo and Daniel Poncedeleon.

2016 Peoria Chief (73-66)  notable members of this team was Magneuris Sierra, Edmundo Sosa
Ronnie Williams, and Jake Woodford.

2016 Springfield Cardinals (AA Texas League (North) Harrison Bader, Paul DeJong, Anthony Garcia, Austin Gomber, Juan Herrera, Carson Kelly, Cole Lankford, Alex Mejia, Andrew Morales, Daniel Poncedeleon, Breyvic Valera, Luke Weaver, Jacob Wilson, Corey Littrell, and Mike Mayers.

If this wasn't enough Ray sent some Yadi goodness. Then there is this beauty.
It is a Yadi bobble magnet! I assumed the window pane is metal, but alas no. So I found the next best thing. A picture of my and my better half. Thank you Ray!

Notice anything a little off ?

A quick post before I get ready for work.

I "found" this Topps Big Mac relic card on the Bay and I found it to be a little off.

Yep, it looks like this "Cardinals'" relic is actually an As' relic-or am I off base?

Laissez les bons temps rouler

A couple of weeks before Christmas my Secret Santa gift arrived from my Secret Santa TJ the legendary The Junior Junkie. The package was stuffed full of Redbird Cards most of which I was able to add to our collection and I will pass on those that weren't needed. Since it was so much goodness I thought it best to show my favorites or most interesting. Thank you so much TJ!

Yadi!!!! The Optic card is very sweet, looks great.

Football En Español

You know how it is, you are looking for some reference material for a post or cards or fantasy shopping on the Bay when you come across something that makes you go whoa.  That was my thoughts some time ago when I “discovered” the Mexican and Spanish language 1977 Topps Football cards. I love this set-I especially enjoy the 1977 Topps’ design that was used for football as well as the 1978 Topps English football issue.

What draws me to this set, apart from the design, are the Spanish language team names. Though not all team names are in Spanish the ones that are, are a blast. Let us take a gander and I will choose my favorite between the Spanish and English (hint it will always be the Spanish name) with Spanish on the left. Also, the Broncos are already in Spanish.  First team in alphabetic order is the-

Acereros  (Steelers)

Aguilas   (Eagles)

Bengalies  (Bengals)
Bucaneros  (Buccaneers)
Cafes   (Browns)

Cardenales  (Cardinals)
Carneros  (Rams)

Delfines  (Dolphins)

Empacadores  (Packers)

 Gigantes (Giants)

Halcones  (Falcones)

Jefes  (Chiefs)

Leones  (Lions)

Osos  (Bears)

Patriotas (Patriots)

Petroleros  (Oilers)

Pieles Rojas  (Redskins-seems less offensive in Spanish)
Santos  (Saints)

Vaqueros  (Cowboys)

Vikingos  (Vikings). It is fitting this is the last Spanish language team as it is my favorite.

The Raiders, Colts, Chargers, Seahawks, Bills, Jets, and 49s didn't receive a Spanish name.
